inform

The inform step is where I reflect on my experience of this capstone as a whole. I think about how this would impact others, how I could improve my product, and what my biggest takeaway was from this capstone project.

impact on solving the problem

I think solving this problem will be very impactful for busy and inexperienced parents because it will make them more aware of their children. It will also make others aware of the severity of hot car incidents and how it could happen to anyone.

The design for Light Alert is supposed to be very convenient for parents because it is quick, alerting, simple and portable. The only thing the parents would have to buy is the car seat.

Improving my product

I want to improve the ultrasonic sensor that I used for the proximity distance. I used a sonar sensor, but it only sensed any object that is in front of it, not a specific object.

I plan to use a key fob which would make the reading on the sensor more accurate. towards the distance of the key.

My biggest takeaway

My biggest takeaway from this entire experience was the process of receiving feedback from others and improving my design. I learned that it was really important to keep an open mind in trying new things and that failure is acceptable.

It was also exhilarating to see my idea come to life and make others aware of babies dying in hot cars. It had been a very long time since I made my own project to present, so I thought this process was fun, especially when creating my prototype. I will definitely use this capstone process for future projects.
